The Power of Belief
“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it. I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
Mahatma Gandhi
1869-1948, Indian Nationalist Leader
It is wild that I am going into my 8th year of Coaching youth football. What I have found is that in games between equally talented teams. Or even somewhat balanced contests. The team that has the most desire, the most drive. The team who wants it the most, is the team that wins. It is when that team faces an opponent that they are not supposed to win. That more often than not their belief in themselves that has taken them to that point, vanishes. Think St. Marys College this past March in the NCAA turney.
As a Coach, a player and a businessman. It is belief in our self and a firey desire that causes success.
